Pasture Management
The Leatherwood Creek Pasture Management Program is a program focusing on reducing the effects of soil loss and sedimentation on water quality in the Leatherwood Creek Watershed, a subwatershed of the Wills Creek Watershed. The goal of the program is to improve pasture management techniques of livestock producers by promoting increased pasture management techniques, while offering peer learning opportunities.
The program compensates livestock producers in the Leatherwood Creek Watershed for lime and fertilizer application and water system development. The purpose of the cost-share program is to provide a strong incentive for producers to increase their management levels by providing a jump-start on pasture fertility and promoting rotational grazing. With the adoption of basic pasture management techniques, landowners will see direct returns on their investment in basic management.
