About Crossroads RC&D
Project
Accomplishments are as diverse as the projects that Crossroads RC&D
adopts. Crossroads provides technical assistance to projects related
to the environment such as water quality planning and implementation.
Crossroads has always focused on rural resources related to businesses.
Some examples are projects that: determined the feasibility of marketing
firewood, formed Christmas tree cooperatives, and published a tourist
brochure on local wood products.
Historical resources can be very important to local economies.
Crossroads has helped restore a school house, a stagecoach inn,
a historic bridge, and helped develop the Custer memorial. Improvements
of rural services are also important projects. Infrastructure projects
such as timber bridges, dry fire hydrants, and fixing road slips
help rural areas.
Education efforts have also been part of Crossroads accomplishing
our mission. Projects such as Food Land and People and our Gypsy
Moth outreach help equip citizens with the knowledge to make informed
management decisions
