The Yellow Creek Watershed Restoration Project Summary
$281,000 Funded By Grant Dollars To Date
The Yellow Creek Watershed has approximately 153,010 acres located in Carroll, Columbiana, Harrison and Jefferson Counties.
The original project was a single township newsletter funded by a $500.00 Division of Soil & Water Conservation mini-grant. The newsletter articles addressed the topic of watersheds and non-point source pollution. Other towns became interested to communicate and educate the residents of the watershed.
The Yellow Creek Watershed Restoration Committee was organized in 1998. Funding has been received from (319 funds) for the development of a watershed land use inventory and action plan. With technical assistance by the Carroll and Jefferson SWCD's and numerous other partners, the committee has continued to educated the residents of the watershed and develop land use and inventory action plans.
Received an Ohio EPA 319 Inventory Grant of $10,000 in 1998. Completion Deadline: April 30, 2000.

Contributed fund towards data entry for the Yellow Creek Watershed Database.
Contracted for GIS Services
Developed a public information TV commercial to build support for Yellow Creek on WTOV 9.
Printing & publishing of a watershed awareness newsletter.
Printing & publishing of the Watershed Land Use Inventory and Action Plan.
Treatment of Acid Mine Land
Received a Women's in Mining Grant of $500.00 in May 1999.
Received from Office of Surface Mining (OSM) a grant for $5,000 in April 2000
Treatment of Impaired Agriculture Land
Received federal funds from Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) to implement an Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) a total of $210,000 ($70,000 for 2001-2003).
Received from ODNR Division of Soil & Water $50,000 in April, 2000 to assist with the implementation of the conservation practices listed in the EQIP proposal.
Received from OSU Extension the printing & publishing of an EQIP brochure May, 2000.
Watershed Awareness to Watershed Action (WAWA) Grant for $5,000 from the ODNR Division of Soil & Water Conservation.
